Nursery & landscaping

The same trees, for the rest of the year.

Not every evergreen we grow leaves the farm in a trunk. Potted trees from two feet, and field-grown trees dug with the root ball, for yards, windbreaks and screens.

What we grow for planting

Two ways to take your live tree home.

Rows of potted young evergreens in the nursery

Potted evergreens

Young evergreens grown on in nursery pots, two feet and up. Plant them this year and they are established by next.

Sold singly or by the dozen, with bulk pricing. Call for this season’s sizes.

Two balled-and-burlapped blue spruce ready for planting

Field-grown, dug with the root ball

Trees grown in our rows and dug with the root ball wrapped in burlap, ready to go straight into the ground. The fastest way to a tree that already looks like a tree.

Dug to order in spring and fall, while the trees are dormant.

Blue Spruce · Fraser Fir · White Pine · Norway Spruce · Green Giant arborvitae · and more

Prices and sizes change through the season. Call 540-525-8444 or send a message for this week’s list.

Once it’s in the ground

Four things that matter the first year.

Dig wide, not deep

Twice the width of the root ball and no deeper than it. The top of the ball should sit level with the ground.

Water the first year

A slow soak once a week through the first summer does more than anything else you can do.

Mulch, but not against the trunk

Two or three inches of mulch out to the drip line, pulled back a hand’s width from the bark.

Skip the fertilizer

Evergreens want good drainage and patience, not feeding. Let the roots settle in before you ask for growth.
